Kelpak is a liquid Seaweed concentrate manufactured from the kelp species Ecklonia maxima that is found only in the clear waters off the Atlantic Coast of Southern Africa. Divers harvest the fresh kelp by hand, in a strip rotational system, to ensure uniform age and level of activity of the raw material.
This is a superior quality kelp additive and fertiliser. Apart from being an incredible soil fertiliser, this product is ideal as a compost additive or booster, and for tea brewing.
The key difference with this product is the way that it is made. Kelpak is the only seaweed product utilising the patented Cold Cell-Burst Process that uses high pressure differentials to burst the cell walls of the kelp. The use of this technology, rather than heat or alkaline hydrolysis, allows the release of the delicate plant growth substances into the end product in an active form with naturally occurring ratios.
Auxin molecules are not affected negatively and the natural auxin to cytokinin hormone ratio in Kelpak remains similar to that of the live kelp. This hormone ratio is therefore strongly auxin dominant, which will cause a strong lateral root development in treated plants.
As cytokinins are naturally produced in root tips, the increase in root tips will stimulate natural cytokinin production in the plant. This higher level of cytokinins, together with improved nutrient uptake, will also stimulate the top growth and performance of the treated plant.
The specific ratio of auxins to cytokinins is important in triggering physiological responses in the plant, resulting in:
Kelpack can be applied in hydroponic and drip irrigation systems, as a foliar spray, soil drench, root tip or direct application to fruit. The product is compatible with most nutrients and plant protection chemicals. Kelpak is not a fertiliser and should be applied with a sound plant nutrition program.
